Why choose West Island Golf School?

Who should attend?

Adults and Juniors of any age or ability who want to learn in a fun and supportive teaching environment . This includes beginners, intermediate players and those who already have a low handicap.

What are the benefits?

Golf has become the fastest growing sport in Canada. West Island Golf knows golf can be an intimidating sport, especially for beginners. Our mandate is to provide elite teaching programs and outings in a fun & social atmosphere. West island Golf will address each individuals needs to provide a well rounded comprehensive golf experience.

How large are the groups?

Clinics and group programs have different ratios depending on the program. Please contact our academy for more info.

What does a lesson cost?

Lessons start as low as $39 and go upward of $500 for two day golf schools. Please look in our Lesson program & Sutton package sections for details. 

What is included in the lesson?

Customized Instruction. All teaching programs whether private, semi-private, group or corporate will be based on the special needs of our students.

What do I wear?

Please wear pants and a golf shirt for men. Also for ladies; pants, knee length shorts/capri pants and a golf shirt. Please dress according to weather conditions. We would suggest always to be prepared for rain. If you do not have golf shoes, please wear running shoes. Also if you have indoor lessons at our facility, golf attire is not required.

What will be covered in a golf lesson, clinic, or a golf outing?

Our indoor and outdoor programs vary from beginner to advanced players to driving range and on course instruction. Here are a few things that will be looked at:

1. Fundamentals: grip, stance, posture, ball position, alignment.
2. Breakdown of the swing with drills and exercises
3. Putting, Chipping & Pitching
4. Rules & Etiquette
5. Course Management
6. Fitness

Will I get individualized attention?

Absolutely. Each student is given individual attention and specific instruction to suit their individual needs.

Do you group Jr. Players with adults?

Yes, at times we do group juniors with adults upon request. Let us know about your needs.

What is the age of a Jr. Player?

Generally 9-16.

How young of a golfer can participate?

We have taught players as young as 5 years old. Players between the ages of 5 and 8 are booked into private sessions only.

How many Instructors do you have?

We currently have 8 Certified Instructors in Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Does your facility offer instructor certifications?

Yes. West Island Golf certifies those who wish to become golf teaching professionals. To become "Academy Certified", candidates attend a free evaluation interview and must successfully complete 4 criteria's during a period of 1 year. For more info please reach our academy.

Can I follow-up with my Instructor?

Absolutely. You can follow up with your instructor on the range, on the golf course or via email.

How far in advance do I need to book a lesson?

This varies depending upon the season and size of group. For private lessons we are available year round 7 days a week to meet your instructional needs.

What if I do not have clubs?

We will provide clubs at all times. Please make arrangements in advance.

Can I buy clubs at your facility?

Yes.

What kind of clubs do you sell?

Tom Wishon Golf Technology with club fitting. Wilson Golf beginner/intermediate sets and Wilson Golf sets for Juniors.

Is it better to purchase clubs or get club fitted before my lesson or after my lesson?

After. The friendly and knowledgeable staff is always on hand to guide you. With the use of the facility driving range, the pros will guide you to the clubs that are right for you. We will have our on-site Club Fitting and repair expert fit you. PCS Class A club fitter & M.O.I. certified is on site and available upon request. Ask about our fitting programs or click on our club fitting page for more info.

Do you offer Corporate/Group rates?

Yes, we offer corporate and group rates. Please inquire.

Will I receive a refund if my lesson is rained out?

Lessons are very rarely rained out. We have 2 indoor hitting bays and an indoor short game area. If a lesson is rained out away from our indoor school, the lesson or outing will be re-scheduled.

Do you offer transportation?

We currently offer transportation services. We suggest car, van, limo or bus service with one of our partners. What ever your need, West Island Golf can cater.

What is your cancellation policy?

CANCELLATION POLICY:

No refund policy in effect for all programs, all lessons & programs are final sale
All paid lessons are subject to rescheduling up to 24hrs. in advance
All paid On-Course lessons are subject to rescheduling up to 48hrs. in advance
All lessons are valid for 1 year from date of purchase. Some restrictions apply.
No shows 100% cancellation fee.

Do you have practice facilities?

Yes, we do have indoor & outdoor practice facilities.

Does Rafael your Golf Director give private lessons?

Yes, but on a limited basis. For more information contact our Golf School.
